Don’t we all just love social media? Posting stories on our Facebook accounts. Love sharing our
pictures on Instagram. Let’s not talk about being part of the hashtag(#)
world of Twitter.
We often find it so easy to set up social media accounts.
Some probably activated before we started tertiary education and be in the
field of Public Relations, isn’t it? Yes that I know because that’s exactly what
I did and I know many did as well. What we don’t realise is that we are
portraying an image of ourselves.
Think about it, we are what we say, and our social network
profiles say a lot about us. We should always try to use your social networks
positively. This is in order to create a positive brand of ourselves.
1. Your
personal profile photo and or other pictures
Taking pictures are a lot fun and we all love to. However when
posting pictures on our social network accounts make sure that It is
professional. This will help create a positive image of ourselves. It is the
best times of our lives when we have fun and are surrounded by friends and
family. Just make sure that those pictures won’t affect our chances of being
hired one day or ruin the image we put up for ourselves.
2. Basic information
We all heard of Google search?
Yes Google is amazing and can view any information about who we are. So when
creating our profile, make sure all information are true and honestly says who
we are and what our values, morals are as well as what we do. We avoid stating anything
that is not true about us.
3. Posts
This is where it gets tricky. Don’t we love updating our
statuses about anything and everything? This is our way of making sure our
friends know what we up to. We should make sure what we say does not have any consequences.
Therefore the best tip is to limit what we say and do not post any negative
statuses about anything. We end up creating a negative brand for ourselves.
4. Comments
Comments are as important as what we post. Don’t we all
believe that what we say can affect us, whether it’s positive or negative? Don’t
just jump into conversations. Most importantly, think before we say anything.
5. Simplicity
Its really just important that we keep our social networks
simple. Keeping in mind what we want to say and stay to the point. This is
because we don’t want our profiles to look to busy and confuse others.
That’s
it for today and hope it helped! here's a little video for all to enjoy
